- Distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks are the fastest growing cause of data center outages, rising from 2% of outages in 2010 to 22% in 2016.
- The average cost of a data center outage is $740,357—a 38% increase from 2010.

DDoS attackers usually orchestrate attacks by bombarding their targets with queries that flood the IP addresses of their targets. Devices running Dispersive™ VN software thwart that method by refusing inbound connections. Instead, endpoints call out to each other through distributed cloud-hosted resources that dynamically change based on network conditions. This masks the service provider's IP and the IPs for specific services. By masking those IP addresses, and moving the attack surface to zero-value servers in the cloud, the software makes it much harder for DDoS attackers to succeed.
Additionally, a Dispersive™ VN rolls data delivery paths dynamically. This constantly brings new paths to the cloud-hosted resources. So if an attack is launched on a subset of available paths, your traffic immediately rolls away and shifts to other connections.
